Katrine Dirckinck-Holmfeld, Bernard Akoi-Jackson, Oceana James and Julie Edel Hardenberg’s video work ...The Refused Witnesses ..., Or ... Silence in Court... (peculiar speculations on censorship via processes and practices of silencing, in cases where witnesses are silenced by the mechanisms of authoritative silence and thus sentences are deferred and eventually annulled), 2024–, films an imaginary trial of the so called ‘bust case’. In the video, Ghanaian performance artist Akoi-Jackson, is performing the judge with the St Croix-born artist James explaining her ansetral lineage of her great, great grandparents, who were captured by Danish enslavers in Africa and enslaved in St. Croix. We also hear the testimony of Nuuk born artist Julie Edel Hardenberg

The video explores questions of who counts as a witness, and who is allowed to testify. The video is an ongoing project that aim is to include all the 10 testimonies that were refused in the court case that eventually got annulled.
